Identity and literature on María Zambrano’s work

  • Roberto Sánchez Benítez

Abstract

María Zambrano aproached to the problem of identity in an intense way in the context of the spanish civil war, the exile and, even more, the crisis of occidental reason. This problem is enunciated, first, as a debate between present and past, meaning, between the way of recover and assume the tradition; and in a social sense it is directed toward living the history again, as a culture creation. In this way, the decades of 1930 and 1940 will be understood by the thinker as decades of reconciliation, of conquest of the truth of a swiped past, but as well as the non-declinable possibility of enlighting the unknown zones of men. Through an auto-reflexive process, the word should forge destiny and freedom.
