The first Frege´s Begriffsschrift

Abstract

The article presents a detailed exposition and discussion of Frege's first system of logic as contained in the Begriffsschrift of 1879. This system, is argued, not only poses the main problems which were to become the starting point of Frege's major developments in semantics, but also conducted him to the concrete possibility of basing mathematics in logic.
