The closed commercial state of J. G. Fichte: Limits and possibilities
Abstract
In this article I carry out a critical analysis of the possibilities and limits of J.G. Fichte’s proposal in his work The Commercial Closed State. The research problem is the following: is it possible to defend a political proposal of a closed commercial state in the 21st century, as Fichte does? Before answering such question, it is necessary to understand the philosophical principles of his political philosophy, specifically in his work Foundations of Natural Right. The working hypothesis that I will try to confirm is the paradox that, even though the philosophical principles of Fichte’s political thought are correct in relation to the State and its functions, its conclusions can be considered erroneous regarding the necessity for the commercial closure of the State.Downloads
